Ukulele Anthem
Amanda Palmer Featuring The Grand Theft Orchestra, Theatre Is Evil

Sid Vicious played a four-string Fender bass guitar and couldn't sing
And everybody hated him except the ones who loved him
A ukulele has four strings, but Sid did did not play ukulele
He did smack and probably killed his girlfriend Nancy Spungen

If only Sid had had a ukulele, maybe he would have been happy
Maybe he would not have suffered such a sad end
He maybe would have not done all that heroin instead
He maybe would've sat around just singing nice songs to his girlfriend

So play your favorite cover song, especially if the words are wrong
'Cause even if your grades are bad, it doesn't mean you're failing
Do your homework with a fork
And eat your fruit loops in the dark
And bring your etch-a-sketch to work
And play your ukulele

Ukulele small and fierceful
Ukulele brave and peaceful
You can play the ukulele too, it is painfully simple
Play your ukulele badly, play your ukulele loudly
Ukulele banish evil
Ukulele save the people
Ukulele gleaming golden from the top of every steeple

Lizzie Borden took an axe, and gave her mother forty whacks
Then gave her father forty-one, and left a tragic puzzle
If only they had given her an instrument, those puritans
Had lost the plot completely see what happens when you muzzle

A person's creativity and do not let them sing and scream
And nowadays it's worse 'cause kids have automatic handguns
It takes about an hour to teach someone to play the ukulele
About the same to teach someone to build a standard pipe bomb
YOU DO THE MATH

So play your favorite cover song, especially if the words are wrong
'Cause even if your grades are bad, it doesn't mean you're failing
Do your homework with a fork
And eat your fruit loops in the dark
And bring your flask of Jack to work
And play your ukulele

Ukulele, thing of wonder
Ukulele, wand of thunder
You can play the ukulele, too
In London and down under
Play N*Sync, and play Jacques Brel
And Eminem and Neutral Milk Ho—
Tell the children
Crush the hatred
Play your ukulele naked
If anybody tries to steal your ukulele, let them take it

Imagine there's no music, imagine there are no songs
Imagine that John Lennon wasn't shot in front of his apartment
Now imagine if John Lennon had composed "Imagine" for the ukulele
Maybe people would have truly got the message

You may think my approach is simple-minded and naïve
Like if you want to change the world then why not quit and feed the hungry
But people for millennia have needed music to survive
And that is why I promised John that I will not feel guilty

So play your favorite Beatles song
And make the subway fall in love
They're only $19.95, that isn't lots of money
Play until the sun comes up
And play until your fingers suffer
Play LCD Soundsystem songs on your ukulele

Quit the bitching on your blog
And stop pretending art is hard
Just limit yourself to three chords
And do not practice daily
You'll minimize some stranger's sadness
With a piece of wood and plastic
Holy fuck, it's so fantastic, playing ukulele
Eat your homework with a fork
And do your fruit loops in the dark
Bring your etch-a-sketch to work

Your flask of Jack
Your vibrator
Your fear of heights
Your Nikon lens
Your mom and dad
Your disco stick
Your soundtrack to "Karate Kid"
Your Ginsu knives
Your rosary
Your new Rebecca Black CD
Your favorite room
Your bowie knife
Your stuffed giraffe
Your new glass eye
Your sousaphone
Your breakfast tea
Your Nick Drake tapes
Your giving tree
Your ice cream truck
Your missing wife
Your will to live
Your urge to cry
Remember we're all gonna die
So play, your ukulele

Dark Come Soon
Tegan & Sara, The Con

Dark, you can't come soon enough for me
Saved, from one more day of misery
Everything I love, get back for me now
Everyone I love, I need you now

Don't forget a million miles for me
Safe and another day can pass by me
Everything I'd love, get back for me now
Everyone I'd love, I'd need you now

[So what?] [Come on, come on]
So I conned, I lied
I lied to me too
[So what?] [Come on, come on]
So I conned, I lied
I lied to me too
[So what?]

Hold out for the ones you know will love you
Hide out from the ones you know will love you
You, you too

Hide to the edge and back, be there
Slow to make my move, I'm almost there
Everything I say, I say to me first
Everything I do, I do to me first

[So what?]
So what, I lied
I lied to me too
[So what?]
So what, I lied?
I lied to me too

Hold out for the ones you know will love you
Hide out from the ones you know will love you
You, you too

Dark, you can't come soon enough for me

"It’s a uniquely American prudishness. You can write the most detailed, vivid description of an ax entering a skull, and nobody will say a word in protest. But if you write a similarly detailed description of a penis entering a vagina, you get letters from people saying they’ll never read you again. What the hell? Penises entering vaginas bring a lot more joy into the world than axes entering skulls."

Author George R. R. Martin. Interview published in May 2012 Rolling Stones Magazine.

You Can Be the Boss
Lana Del Rey, Born To Die

Tastes like the fourth of July
Malt liquor on your breath, my my
I love you but I don't know why

You can be the boss, daddy
You can be the boss
Tastes like a keg party
Back on the sauce
Like you a lot, like you a lot
Don't let it stop
You can be the boss, daddy
You can be the boss
Bad to the bone
Sick as a dog
You know that I like, like you a lot
Don't let it stop

Got his cigarette with his number on it
He gave it over me, do you want it?
I knew it was wrong, but I palmed it
I saved, I waited, I called it
The liquor on your lips, the liquor on your lips
The liquor on your lips makes you dangerous
I knew it was wrong, I'm beyond it
I tried to be strong, but I lost it

Tastes like the fourth of July
Malt liquor on your breath, my my

You can be the boss, daddy
You can be the boss
Tastes like a keg party
Back on the sauce
Like you a lot, like you a lot
Don't let it stop
You can be the boss, daddy
You can be the boss
Bad to the bone
Sick as a dog
You know that I like, like you a lot
Don't let it stop

He has a white corvette like I want him
A fire in his eyes, know I saw it
He's bleeding from his brain and his wallet
He's sick and he's taken, but honest
The liquor on your lips, the liquor on your lips
The liquor on his lips I just can't resist
As close as I get to the darkness
He tells me, Shut up I got this

Tastes like the fourth of July
Malt liquor on your breath, my my

You can be the boss, daddy
You can be the boss
Tastes like a keg party
Back on the sauce
Like you a lot, like you a lot
Don't let it stop
You can be the boss, daddy
You can be the boss
Bad to the bone
Sick as a dog
You know that I like, like you a lot
Don't let it stop

I need you
I need you, babe
Like I never needed anyone
You're wrong but you're so much fun
You say you treat 'em mean to keep 'em keen
You're not that nice
But you taste like the fourth of July
Malt liquor on your breath, my my

You can be the boss, daddy
You can be the boss
Tastes like a keg party
Back on the sauce
Like you a lot, like you a lot
Don't let it stop
You can be the boss, daddy
You can be the boss
Bad to the bone
Sick as a dog
You know that I like, like you a lot
Don't let it stop

Don't let it stop

Crash and burn?

Joyride
The Killers, Day & Night

It's getting close to sundown
Over the Sierra
Stranded on the heatwave
Burning with desire
She was on the sidewalk
Looking for a night light
We talked about the real things
And drove into the fire

Headlights on the highway
The desert wind is howling
Rattlesnakes and romance
Is spilling with the rain
Candy apple red dress
Bleeding when she kissed me
Heaven in a ragtop
Take away my pain

When your chips are down
When your highs are low
Joyride
Move across the night
Like a separate wind

Pulled up to a motel
"Vacancy" was buzzing
Pink and dirty neon
Settle on the hood
Wrapped her arms around me
Come a little closer
Stumble in the twilight
And fell onto the floor
Loving Mona Lisa
Dreaming of the free world
Lipstick on the nightstand
And demons at the door

When your chips are down
When your highs are low
Joyride
Move across the night
Like a separate wind

When your hopes and dreams
Lose the will to go
Joyride
Reaching for the light
Knowing we can't win

There's something in the distance
A glorious existance
A simple celebration
A place you've never been before
[Won't you kiss me]
Tell me that you want it more
Reaching for the light knowing we can't win
When your chips are down
When your chips are down
When your highs are low
Joyride
All your hopes and dreams
All you need to know
Joyride

The Truth About Murlocs
DarkPippi, Youtube Machinima video by RavenSylphe

Why are there not many
Songs about murlocs
And what they all feel inside
Murlocs seem vicious
But it's just illusion
Cause murlocs have nothing to hide
When we see something that's tasty we eat it
My brothers and I all agree

Someday you'll be it
A murloc's selection
We find you, we kill you, we eat

We say that every dish
Should be slowly savored
Especially gnomish tar tar
Orc meat is toughest
But we will still eat it
But troll is more tasty by far
What's so amazing undead meat's still tasty
If you try some you will see

Someday you'll be it
A murloc's selection
We find you, we kill you, we eat

All of us eating blood elf
You can almost taste their magic

We enjoy night elfs
Although a bit gamey
And draenei are good special made
And there's the sweet cuts
Of dwarfs marinated
In ale before even filleted
Tauren we cook in a smokey old heat pit
And human falls right off the bone

Someday you'll be it
A murloc's selection
We find you, we kill you, we eat

La da da dee da da dum
La dah da da da da da da daaaa

Strange days are coming?

Stranger Things Have Happened
Foo Fighters, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace

Goddamn this dusty room
This hazy afternoon
I'm breathing in this silence like never before

This feeling that I get
This one last cigarette
As I lay awake and wait for you to come through that door

Oh maybe, maybe, maybe
I can share it with you
I behave I behave I behave
So I can share it with you

You are not alone dear loneliness
You forgot but I remember this
So stranger, stranger, stranger things have happened I know
I'm not alone dear loneliness
I forgot that I remember this
So stranger, stranger, stranger things have happened I know, oh oh, oh oh

And I dream about somewhere
A smoke will fill the air
As I lay awake and wait for you to walk out that door

I can change, I can change, I can change
But who you want me to be?
I'm the same, I'm the same, I'm the same,
What do you want me to be?

You are not alone dear loneliness
You forgot but I remember this
So stranger, stranger, stranger things have happened I know oh oh, oh oh

I'm not alone dear loneliness
I forgot that I remember this
You are not alone dear loneliness
You forgot but I remember this
Oh stranger, stranger, stranger things have happened I know

I'm not alone dear loneliness
I forgot that I remember this
Oh stranger, stranger, stranger things have happened I know oh oh, oh oh, oh oh

Babe, You Turn Me On
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Lyre Of Orpheus

Stay by me, stay by me
You are the one, my only true love

The butcher bird makes it's noise
And it asks you to agree
With it's brutal nesting habits
And it's pointless savagery
Now, the nightingale, it sings to you
And raises up the ante
I put one hand on your round ripe heart
And the other down your panties

Everything is falling, dear
Everything is wrong
It's just history repeating itself
And babe, you turn me on

Like a light bulb, babe
Like a song

You race naked through the wilderness
You torment the birds and the bees
You leapt into the abyss, but find
It only goes up to your knees
I move stealthily from tree to tree
And I shadow you for hours
I make like I'm a little deer
Grazing on the flowers

Everything is collapsing, dear
All moral sense has gone
It's just history repeating itself
And babe, you turn me on

Like an idea, babe
Like an Atom bomb

We stand awed inside a clearing
We do not make a sound
The crimson snow falls all about
Carpeting the ground

Everything is falling, dear
All rhyme and reason gone
It's just history repeating itself
And, babe, you turn me on

Like an idea, babe
Like an Atom bomb

Sure Know Something
Kiss, Dynasty

I've been up and down, I've been all around
I was mystified almost terrified
But late at night I still hear you call my name
I've been on my own, I've been all alone
I was hypnotized, I felt paralyzed
But late at night I still want you just the same

I've been a gambler but I'm nobody's fool
And I sure know something sure know something
You showed me things they never taught me in school
And I sure know something sure know something
No one can make me feel the way that you do
And I sure know something, aha

I was seventeen, you were just a dream
I was mesmerized, I felt scared inside
You broke my heart and I still can feel the pain
I've been counted out, I've had fear and doubt
I've been starry eyed, never satisfied
'Cause late at night I still need you just the same
[Just the same]

I've been a gambler but I'm nobody's fool
And I sure know something sure know something
You showed me things they never taught me in school
And I sure know something sure know something
No one can make me feel the way that you do
And I sure know something, aha

Ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh
I've been counted out, I've had fear and doubt
I've been starry eyed, never satisfied
'Cause late at night I still need you just the same yea
[Just the same]

I've been a gambler but I'm nobody's fool
And I sure know something sure know something
You showed me things they never taught me in school
And I sure know something sure know something
No one can make me feel the way that you do
[And I sure know something sure know something]
No one can tell me till I hear it from you
[And I sure know something sure know something]

I've been a gambler but I'm nobody's fool
Sure know something sure know something
You showed me things they never taught me in school
Sure know something sure know something

I Can't Stay
The Killers, Day & Age

The emotion it was electric
And the stars, they all aligned
I knew I had to make my decision
But I never made the time
No, I never made the time

In the dark, for a while now
I can't stay, so far
I can't stay much longer
Riding my decision home

Exoneration lost his eraser
But my forgiver found the sun
And there are twisted days that I take comfort
Cause I'm not the only one
No, I'm not the only one

In the dark, for a while now
I can't stay very far
I can't stay much longer
Riding my decision home

There is a majesty at my doorstep
There is a little boy in her arms
Now we'll parade around without game plans
Obligation or alarm

In the dark, for a while now
I can't stay very far
I can't stay much longer
Riding my decision home

In the dark, for a while now
I can't stay so far
I can't stay much longer
Riding my decision home
In the dark

The Killers - Tranquilize

Tranquilize
The Killers, Sawdust

Time it tells living in my home town,
Wedding bells they begin easy
Live it down, baby don't talk that much,
Baby knows, but baby don't tease me.
In the park we could go walking,
Drown in the dark or we could go sailing
On the sea

Always here, always on time
Close call, was it love or was it just easy
Money talks when people need shoes and socks,
Steady boys, I'm thinking she needs me

I was just sipping on something sweet
I don't need political process

I got this feeling that they're gonna break down the door
I got this feeling that they're gonna come back for more
See I was thinking that I lost my mind
But it's been getting to me all this time
And it don't stop dragging me down

Silently reflection turns my world to stone
Patiently correction leaves us all alone
And sometimes I'm a travel man
But tonight this engine's failing

I still hear the children playing

Kick the can, kick the can, skip and blackjack
Steal a car and ring a round-rosey,
Rock and roll, candyland, boogeyman,
Run away and give me your sneakers

Acid rain, when Abel looked up at Cain
We began the weeping and wailing
A hurried high from pestilence, pills and pride,
It's a shame, we could of gone sailing
But heaven knows,
Heaven knows everything
Tranquilize

I got this feeling that they're gonna break down the door
I got this feeling that they're gonna come back for more
See I was thinking that I lost my mind
But it's been getting to me all this time
And it don't stop dragging me down

Silently reflection turns my world to stone
Patiently correction leaves us all alone
And sometimes I'm travel man
But tonight this engine's failing

I still hear the children playing
Dead beat dancers come to us and stay

Cause I don't care where you've been
And I don't care what you've seen
We're the ones who still believe
And we're looking for a page
In that lifeless book of hope
Where a dream might help you cope
With the Bushes and the bombs
A-re, Tranquilized

Personal Jesus
Depeche Mode, Violator

Reach out and touch faith

Your own personal Jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who cares
Your own personal Jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who's there

Feeling unknown and you're all alone
Flesh and bone by the telephone
Lift up the receiver
I'll make you a believer

Take second best
Put me to the test
Things on your chest
You need to confess
I will deliver
You know I'm a forgiver

Reach out and touch faith

Reach out and touch faith

Your own personal Jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who cares
Your own personal Jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who's there

Feeling unknown and you're all alone
Flesh and bone by the telephone
Lift up the receiver
I'll make you a believer
I will deliver
You know I'm a forgiver

Reach out and touch faith
Your own personal Jesus
Reach out and touch faith
Reach out and touch faith

Reach out and touch faith

Reach out and touch faith

Reach out and touch faith

Seaside Rendevous
Queen, A Night at the Opera

Seaside whenever you stroll along with me
I'm merely contemplating what you feel inside
Meanwhile I ask you to be my Clementine
You say you will if you could but you can't
I love you madly
Let my imagination run away with you gladly
A brand new angle highly commendable
Seaside rendezvous

I feel so romantic can we do it again?
Can we do it again sometime I'd like that
Fantastic c'est la vie madame et monsieur
And at the peak of the season
The Mediterranean
This time of year it's so fashionable

I feel like dancing in the rain
Can I have a volunteer?
Just keep right on dancing
What a damn jolly good idea
It's such a jollification as a matter of fact
So 'tres charmant' my dear

Underneath the moonlight
Together we'll sail across the sea
Reminiscing every night
Meantime I ask you to be my Valentine
You say you'd have to tell your daddy if you can
I'll be your Valentino
We'll ride upon an omnibus and then the casino
Get a new facial start a sensational
Seaside rendezvous so adorable
Seaside rendezvous ooh
Seaside rendezvous
Give us a kiss!

Other Song
Operator Please, Yes, Yes Vindictive

You start it

I like to lie about
I like to lie about all kinds of things
Even if they're small
There's nothing that can sway the way I think
You hold it to me now
These words that make me feel so insecure

Pick my pockets

Diamonds aren't in the rough
I think you're looking way too far and hard
Diamonds aren't in the rough
If it's your motive shine to find a star
Where is the value in material things
That you can discard?

Drop to shatter

I watch this film go on
I'm watching with so much intent
Yes, it's unethical
But somehow it makes perfect sense

So jealous

I'm smiling most the time
I smile so that you'll never see the fear
My eyes into the light
You blind your self so logic disappears
So inappropriate
The time it takes to gander up a name

Withhold to hold it

I watch this film go on
I'm watching with so much intent
Yes, it's unethical
But somehow it makes perfect sense
You hold it to me now
These words that make me feel so insecure

Pick my pockets

This particular time zone
Widens the gap differs the distance
This particular time zone
Widens the gap differs the distance

I'll never wear it, no
I'll never wear it, no
I'll never wear it, no
I'll never wear it, no
I'll never wear it, no
I'll never wear it, no
I'll never wear it, no
Or am I too obvious

I am afraid to be
Yes, I'm afraid to be myself
'Cause they keep telling me
I'm trying to be someone else
How can you know these things
Unless you've been inside my head?

We push your buttons

Go Tell The Women
Grinderman, Grinderman

We've done our thing
We have evolved
We're up on our hind legs
The problem's solved

We are artists
We are mathematicians
Some of us hold extremely
High positions

But we are tired
We're hardly breathing
And we're free
Go tell the women that we’re leaving

We're sick and tired
Of all this self-serving grieving
All we wanted was a little consensual rape in the morning
And maybe a bit more in the evening

We are scientists
We do genetics
We leave religion
To the psychos and fanatics

But we are tired
We got nothing to believe in
We are lost
Go tell the women that we’re leaving

We've done our thing
We’re hip to the sound
of six billion people
Going down

We are magicians
We are deceiving
We’re free and we’re lost
Go tell the women that we’re leaving

Hey hey Hey hey
Come on back now to the fray

Hey hey Hey hey
Come on back now to the fray

Where Is The Love?
Black Eyed Peas, Elephunk

What's wrong with the world, mama
People livin' like they ain't got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin'
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK

But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate
Yeah, madness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how anger works and operates
Man, you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate

Let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek?

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love? [Love]

Where is the love? [The love]
Where is the love? [The love]
Where is the love?
The love, the love

It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane?
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations droppin' bombs
Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone

So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in
People keep on givin' in
Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love

Where's the love, y'all? come on [I don't know]
Where's the truth, y'all? come on [I don't know]
Where's the love, y'all?

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach?
And would you turn the other cheek?

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love? [Love]

Where is the love? [The love]
Where is the love? [The love]
Where is the love? [The love]
Where is the love? [The love]
Where is the love? [The love]
Where is the love? [The love]
Where is the love, the love, the love?

I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin'
Selfishness got us followin' our wrong direction
Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema

Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness in equality
Instead of spreading love we're spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading us away from unity
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' under
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' down
There's no wonder why sometimes I'm feelin' under
Gotta keep my faith alive till love is found

Now ask yourself

Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Where is the love?

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love?

Sing wit me y'all:
One world, one world [We only got]
One world, one world [That's all we got]
One world, one world
And something's wrong wit it [Yeah]
Something's wrong wit it [Yeah]
Something's wrong wit the wo-wo-world, yeah
We only got
[One world, one world]
That's all we got
[One world, one world]

Something from this morning.

Something To Believe In
Bon Jovi, These Days

I lost all faith in my god
In his religion too
I told the angels
They could sing their songs to someone new

I lost all trust in my friends
I watched my heart turn to stone
I thought that I was left
To walk this wicked world alone

Tonight Ill dust myself off
Tonight Ill suck my gut in
Ill face the night and Ill pretend
I got something to believe in

And I had lost touch with reason
I watched life criticize the truth
Been waiting for a miracle
I know you have too

Though I know I wont win
Ill take this one on the chin
Well raise a toast and Ill pretend
I got something to believe in

If I dont believe in Jesus
How can I believe the pope?
If I dont believe in heroin
How can I believe in dope?
If theres nothing but survival
How can I believe in sin?
In a world that gives you nothing
We need something to believe in

If I dont believe in Jesus
How can I believe the pope?
If I dont believe in heroin
How can I believe in dope?
If theres nothing but survival
How can I believe in sin?
In a world that gives you nothing
We need something to believe in

I guess some days just aren't much fun.

No Mountain
The Cat Empire, So Many Nights

No mountain can see
But sometimes a mountain can sing
Or hum at least I have heard one
Humming on the evening we ...

And no horizon can see
But sometimes horizons can close their eyes
And drift into one moment somewhere
Halfway between
The distance and a dream

And all my senses' honesty
And all my senses' honesty they belong to you

Alone I stand alone I fall
There is no option anymore
Alone with you
And though my point of view seems sad
I believe it's not so bad
Alone with you

And all my senses' honesty
And all my senses' honesty they belong to you

Alone I stand alone I fall
There is no option anymore
Alone with you
And though my point of view seems sad
I believe it's not so bad
Alone with you

Alone I stand alone I fall
There is no option anymore
Alone with you
And though my point of view seems sad
I believe it's not so bad
Alone with you

So, I've been wondering what to do about it for a while now.
When I lost my webspace, I also lost my custom mood theme [which are apparently only available to paid accounts?].
Anywa, I finally distracted myself from my most exciting life again, and uploaded the images to Scrapbook here, and then altered the mood links to suit.

Here it is!Collapse )
